DEGREE PROGRAMS

DOCTOR OF MINISTRY

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program, is a professional and terminal degree that emphasizes senior-level leadership tools and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. The concentration focuses on the nuts and bolts of effective Christian leadership and addresses some of the advanced skills and complex issues faced by ministry leaders. Our D.Min. program is ideal for the student who has already earned an M.Div. or MTS degree, as our Doctor of Ministry builds on the knowledge core of biblical, historical and theological interdisciplinary studies taught during an M.Div. / MTS program. The degree’s purpose is to enhance the critical thinking, research and leadership skills of the student engaged in the leadership of congregations or church-related institutions. Through the process of empirical research, this D.Min. degree will enhance your reflective decision making enabling you to lead in a whole new way.

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) - Minimum 39 CREDITS*

Prerequisite: Master of Theological Studies Degree(MTS) or Master of Divinity Degree (MDiv)

A minimum of 5 years life/work experience in church/ministry may be applicable in credits towards degree program.

THEOLOGY OF CHURCH PLANTING                                           

Course Description: Builds a solid biblical foundation and theology to direct church planting and renewal.

Allows ministers to develop a personal theology for church planting, multiplication, revitalization, and renewal to guide their ministry.

MODELS OF CHURCH PLANTING                                                    

Course Description: Examines biblical models for planting and revitalizing churches. Offers an opportunity to explore application of planting and revitalization models to your ministry context.

HEALTH & GROWTH OF CHURCH PLANT                                  

Course Description: Explores the dynamics of what makes a church healthy. Identifies elements of toxic ministry environments and how to restore ministries to health with emphasis on church planting, revitalization, and renewal.

THE MINISTRY LEADER                                                                 

(Course Description: Examines and assesses ethical issues affecting leaders’ lives and work.

Provides tailored personal/professional assessment, refocusing and growth. Emphasizes core values,

spiritual formation, and relational development, providing lifetime leadership competence and confidence.

ADVANCED MINISTRY ADMINISTRATION                                   

Course Description: Skill-enhancement course equips to catalyze change: casting vision; conducting strategic planning; managing multi-phased projects and processes. Trains to use interactive systems supporting ministry

strategic planning and management. Equips students with leadership skills to mobilize and manage volunteer and staff resources: recruiting, assimilating, supervising, growing, retaining.

CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN PASTORAL MINISTRY                                                                      

Course Description: Advanced analysis of current trends and issues facing senior level ministry leaders.

Includes development of a strategy for addressing these trends and issues within a biblical theology framework.

CHURCH & MINISTERIAL HEALTH                                                 

Course Description: Holistic approach to health and wellness in ministry. Emphasizes an integrated approach to

spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, and professional health in the minister’s personal life and ministry setting

as a means to long term service and increased fruitfulness in ministry.

DEVELOPING MINISTRY LEADERS                                                 

Course Description: Deepening level of influence and unlocking leadership potential and understanding how

God builds a person into a leader with God-given leadership identity. God’s work in building character and skill;

developing strategic leadership skills, and habits becoming a passionate equipper of other leaders.

TRANSFORMATIONAL MINISTRY                                                  

Course Description: Renewal and transformation in the minister’s personal life and ministry context.

Builds on case studies and historical accounts of the renewing power of the Holy Spirit.

Explores personal renewal as a foundation for leading renewal in ministry settings with a view toward application.

ADVANCED COSMONOGY & ATHROPOLOGY                                                                          

Course Description: Research-based; exploring the intersection of God and science.

Focuses on scientific evidence for the existence of God in creation as an apologetic for the Christian faith.

Doctoral Candidacy Phase

PMIN 897

D.MIN PROJECT DESIGN

Course Description: First part of the D.Min. culminating experience to develop a proposed ministry project design. Submission of a final ministry project proposal is due by the end of the course. Oral examination at the completion of the proposal by the chairperson. Pass/No Pass.

PMIN 899

D.MIN MINISTRY PROJECT

Course Description: Ministry Project that incorporates original study and research using historical, critical, biblical and theological tools and analysis. Focuses on a research-based solution to a problem in ministry. Repeatable for credit for a maximum of 6 credits.

Prerequisites: PMIN 897. Pass/No Pass.

PMIN 899a

D.MIN MINISTRY PROJECT CONTINUATION

Course Description: Continuation for PMIN 899.

If a student does not complete the project in the required 6 credits, they will enroll in PMIN 899a for each semester until the project is completed.

Prerequisite: an IP in PMIN 899. Repeatable for credit. Pass/No Pass.
